Victoria Aveyard wrote the Red Queen series. The Red Queen was first published in 2015 by HarperCollins. This series depicts Mare Barrow navigating a world separated by blood—red and silver. When Mare is discovered with the ability to control lighting regardless of her red blood, she is thrown into the silver court, all the while trying to aid the Scarlet Guard, the ever-growing rebellion.

This trilogy redesign project was an assignment for my Graphic Design I class. I chose the first three Red Queen novels because this series was my favorite in my freshman year of high school.
For my designs, I wanted to hide foreshadowing elements or symbolic imagery within the covers. Below are three versions of testing various design choices. I wanted to use red and silver with a high contrast using black and white. Each character shows themselves towards the beginning of the story, and the reverse is who they become as a part of their character arc. The symbols represent the elements they can wield. The back cover has three quotes from each book that relate to divinity and power.
The applications used during the design process were Adobe Photoshop and Procreate.
